Our lovely fall quarter interns were Trisha Agarwal, Calvin Nguyen, Ly Nguyen, Kevin Nguyen, Vina Nguyen, and Venice Faye Torres! They have done so much work for MEMO in being the strong network of leaders that exemplify MEMO's mission. They worked dilligently on building a team, finished grants for our Winter Symphony of Scholarships Night, and collectively attended and participated in all MEMO events!
[ Fall Quarter 2016 Internship: Culminating Project ]
"MEMO fosters an inviting, inclusive atmosphere. As a close-knit organization, it emphasizes the importance of working together. Board members and general members, alike, have an opportunity to contribute to MEMO’s local and international causes. Members inspire one another with their genuine dedication and enthusiasm.
MEMO aims to help underserved communities break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage by helping individuals and populations receive medical services and access to education. MEMO does not seek to offer a temporary solution to the problem, instead it builds a foundation for individuals and communities to thrive and overcome systemic barriers. Since MEMO was founded in 2007, it has created, expanded, and continued to sponsor ongoing programs such as Medical Mission, Hope Program, Heart Program and Dental Program. Previously, MEMO has hosted two Hepatitis B Awareness Nights (HBAN) aimed towards informing students and families the dangers of the liver disease. Perhaps the most important reason why MEMO has experienced success is because it is a very dynamic organization. MEMO is constantly trying to find new ways to spread its outreach through new programs. For example, our Symphony of Scholarship event this year aims to raise awareness about educational discrepancies in third-world nations.
Besides its work in the community, MEMO itself is also a community composed of friendly and supportive members. The internship program provided an opportunity to see and appreciate the passion and enthusiasm of board members, interns, and members. By participating in board meetings, internship gave a glimpse of how essential communication is to this organization. Everyone in this organization has a voice that is always ready to be heard and every member contributes. Every MEMOber’s effort ignites a passion to help others, and creates everlasting connections between members. Every person contributes to the positive ambience that makes this organization unique and every person leaves knowing that they have made a visible difference."
