MEMObers gathered together and participated in an exciting social where teamwork and communication is necessary to succeed. MEMObers were divided into two groups, Pirate's Den and Pharaoh's Legacy. In each room, MEMObers worked together in order to solve many puzzles and using clues in order to escape from the room within an one-hour limit. This team building exercise challenge MEMObers to think on the spot and communicate with each other. Through this social, MEMObers are able to bond over the experiences and learn more about each others. Thank you to everyone for coming out!!
At the beginning of the meeting, the officers discussed upcoming events, such as the Escape Room Social, ICS at UCI, the winter quarter service event, and the upcoming succulent fundraiser on Valentine's Day. The officers also discussed the outcome of the dim sum fundraiser, which was a success after selling out! After, two MEMObers of the month were also announced. For the remainder of the meeting, all the MEMObers broke off into families and played family feud to learn more about MEMO's past and mission.
The first half of the Week 3 committee meeting was spent deciding on the theme for SOS. All members contributed great ideas, the most popular ones being Titanic, old Hollywood, and the Little Mermaid. Ultimately, the winning idea was Yacht Party! We divided up into 3 committees: Publicity, Decorations, and Sponsorships. For the remainder of the meeting, members were hard at work brainstorming ways to decorate the venue, publicize the event, and search for sponsors.
For the first fundraiser of the quarter, MEMObers volunteer to sell DIM SUM and BOBA at Court of Science! Although the weather was chilly, the turnouts was significant. MEMObers enthusiastically advertises the event, both before the event on social media and during the event. Other than selling the DIM SUM and BOBA, MEMObers are also actively advertising MEMO as an organization by informing customers that the profit made through the fundraiser will all be for our annual mission trip to Vietnam in the summer. Thank you to everyone who came out to help and those who supported us! All of your support is greatly appreciated!
Following the first general meeting of winter quarter, the MEMOship reveal took place. The mentees found out who their mentors were for the first time. Those who signed up to go to MEMOship social all walked to Boiling Crab together to get dinner. At Boiling Crab, the newly-paired mentee and mentor had a chance to get to know more about each other. They were also able to meet the new members and catch up with the old members as well.
